Tip: This project assumes basic beadweaving experience. Keep thread tension firm throughout. At the ends of the bracelet remember to attach one clasp component face up and the other face down.

Steps

  1. Arrange beading pattern on mat with 19 Color A ginkgo beads as the center row (Row 1), and 18 Color B beads as the two outer rows (Rows 2 & 3).
  2. Thread needle with 5 ft of beading thread. String stop bead and position it 10" from the end.
  3. Pick up one size 11 seed bead, then sew through one loop of a clasp component making sure it is face up. (See Tip.)
  4. Pick up one seed bead. At the end of the bead pattern *pick up one Color A bead, and one Color B bead* paying attention to position so that they will nestle together. (Fig 1)
  5. Repeat * through * 17 times. Pick up final Color A bead. Pull thread to nestle beads together and take up slack. This forms Rows 1 and 2.
  6. Pick up one seed bead, then sew through one loop of second clasp component, making sure it is face down. (See Tip).
  7. Pick up one seed bead, one spacer bead, and one seed bead, then sew through last Color B bead placed. (Fig 2)
  8. Repeat Step 7 17 times. Pull thread to firm up tension.
  9. Pick up one seed bead and one spacer bead. Sew through first seed bead placed in Step 3, through clasp loop, and through next seed bead.
  10. Sew down through Rows 1 and 2 to other end.
  11. Sew over the tip of the last Color A bead and down through second hole of the same bead, then pick up first Color B bead of Row 3.
  12. Repeat * through * 17 times form Row 3.
  13. Sew through final Color A bead. Pick up one seed bead, then sew through second clasp loop.
  14. Repeat Steps 7 and 8.
  15. Pick up one seed bead, one spacer bead, and one seed bead, then sew through clasp loop.
  16. Pick up final seed bead then sew through Rows 1 and 3 to other end.
  17. Repeat sewing pattern down outside of Row 3 to reinforce, then weave back down Row 2 a few beads, knotting twice. Trim thread.
  18. Thread needle onto tail and repeat Step 17 down the outside of Row 2.
  19. Optional: Add a tiny drop of adhesive where the thread crosses the top of the gingko bead placed in Step 11 to keep the thread from slipping to the front or back of the bead. Allow to dry.
