Lifestyle: Our Crafty Crew~
We've been celebrating National Craft Month, exploring different crafty jewelry making techniques in our live demos, AND exploring what Team TierraCast folks like to do with their personal create time. See below for some highlights!
Kierston, Product
Development Manager
Kierston is extremely crafty! As you can see below she does not limit herself
to a single creative outlet. She likes to embroider and has recently become
obsessed with sewing. But, her fave might be passing creative mojo on to her
niece, shown here with a piñata they made together.
Sarah, General
Manager
Sarah recently returned from an adventure in Norway, where she spent two weeks
chasing the Northern Lights and knitting with a group of like-minded crafters.
About her images - "I’m making headbands to practice Norwegian style knit
and purl which I learned on my recent trip to Norway! That beautiful yarn I
bought during a tour of the Hillesvag Wool Mill. The cute little crochet flower is my first!"
Jeff, Maintenance Technician
That
title is an understatement if ever there was one. Pretty much, if the shop
needs something, Jeff can build it. This works in his home life, too. Shown
below are a gate he built for his deck (to keep constant companion Yoda
contained) and a puzzle he made just for the fun of it. About these
projects - "I used remnants of ½” and ¾” conduit and MIG welded
it. I wanted it to reflect the design of the deck I built. The puzzle is made
of 1/8” wire rod with welded ends. The trick is to remove the heart."
Dawn, Financial
Administrator
Dawn's handicraft approach is simple - "all seed beads, all the
time!" Below is the gorgeous Christmas stocking name tag she beaded for
her daughter, Camryn, and one of her fave creations - a Cellini spiral necklace
focal, with rope components that were beaded by Camryn. And, more seed bead
projects.
Rob, Production Lead
During the early days of Covid, Rob and his family started creating cheerful
painted and stickered rocks and distributing them around the county (and
beyond*). In Rob's words, "We painted rocks to bring a smile to people's
day." When a rock was found by someone they would post it on the Rob
Rocks Facebook page. *The lower left image shows one placed and found at Pope
Beach in Lake Tahoe!
Tracy, Jewelry Design & Marketing
These days, if she's crafting at home it's probably a sewing project. Currently
at the machine is matching pajama pants for her son and daughter-in-law, an
only-slightly-late Christmas gift. Oh yeah, sometimes there are pies.
Jackson, Packaging
Jackson works mostly in Packaging, but also spends time in Product Development
helping Kierston with metal fabrication tasks. She recently guided him on an
etching project of his band's logo that he affixed to his guitar. So.
Cool!
Ok, that was a lot of fun, but we can't let you go without directing you towards some resources from the blog section of our website that focus on more crafty jewelry techniques like resin, polymer clay, paints and fiber arts. There is still time to try something new as we wrap up National Craft Month 2023. Enjoy!
